
South Shore Dance Ensemble offers classes in a variety of genres for all ages and levels.

Ballet
SSDE offers ballet classes for all levels and ages. This class introduces the exercises and etiquette of a traditional ballet class and includes basic ballet skills and conditioning. Dancers will learn Barre exercises and center exercises, concluding every class with a Reverence.

Jazz
Students will study classic jazz styles derived from Bob Fosse, Jerome Robbins, Luigi, and more!

Tap
Dancers will work on musicality, precision and proper execution of rhythmic sounds and tap choreography.

Lyrical
Lyrical dance is a style of dance that combines ballet, jazz, and modern dance techniques to express emotions through movement. It's often performed to music with lyrics, and the dance is meant to convey the song's meaning.

Contemporary
This class will introduce dancers to improvisation, floor work, inversions, and dynamic choreography. A strong ballet foundation is required for this class.

Acrobatics
Fusion of classic dance technique and the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements. With unique choreography, acro dancers blend musicality, emotional expression, line and extension with acrobatic movements in a dance context.

Hip hop
Hip hop dance is a style of street dance form that evolved from hip hop culture and hip hop music. It borrows elements from a number of different styles like African dance, tap, and ballet. Hip hop dance began as a freestyle dance performed in the streets by dance crews, mostly to hip hop music. This class will focus on a wide array of styles, including breaking, locking, popping, and krumping.

Progressing Ballet Technique is an innovative program developed by Marie Walton-Mahon for students to understand the depth of training muscle memory in achieving their personal best in classical ballet.

Pom
Pom dance is an energetic and dynamic style of dance that places emphasis on precise and synchronised arm movements, formations, jumps, and skills.
We also offer Creative Movement for preschool dancers as well as Adult classes.
