It’s your time to shine!

The Nutcracker Ballet

Dancers are invited to audition for our annual production of The Nutcracker. A beloved holiday classic, our performances are enjoyed by our dance families as well as the local community. SSDE’s Nutcracker originated at Dance Workshop of Hanover in 1992, under the direction of MaryLou Cunningham.

Auditions take place in August with two performances in mid-December. Dancers in The Nutcracker will have evening and weekend rehearsals, in addition to their regular dance curriculum.

June Performance

Our June Performance is the exciting culmination of the children's dedication and hard work throughout the year. It offers a unique opportunity for families to witness their growth and achievements on stage. Students come together to perform a full classical ballet, complemented by dynamic jazz, tap, hip hop, and contemporary pieces.

Participation in this performance is highly encouraged, as it instills a sense of accomplishment, builds self-pride, and deepens their love and joy for dancing and performing.

Competition Team

South Shore Dance Ensemble offers talented dancers aged 9+ the opportunity to compete in regional dance competitions across New England. To join the competition team, dancers must have a minimum of three years of experience in dance and be enrolled in weekly classes that include ballet, jazz, contemporary/lyrical, and acrobatics. A detailed syllabus will be provided upon acceptance to the team.

SSDE participates in up to four competitions per year. The focus of the competition team is on developing strong technique across all dance forms, with ballet serving as the foundation. Dancers will transfer the skills learned in regular classes to performances through dedicated competition rehearsal classes.

Auditions are held in May or June for the following season. Casting results will be emailed in the weeks following the audition. For more details or to inquire about auditions, please contact SSDE directly.
